Jlo loves her some flan
What's Jennifer Lopez’s favorite recipe?
According to her former exec chef Rolando Gonzalez it's his Cuban Flan. As a matter of fact, she's so into flan that she's starting to smell it everywhere. Jlo recently got off of her plane in Miami, turned to Rolando and said this "Aqui huele a Flan Cubano" which translates to "it smells like Cuban Flan here."
Check out the recipe that has Jlo going nutty.
Chef Gonzalez's Flan Cubano
Ingredients:
3 eggs
3 egg yolks
2 cups of milk
1 3/4 cups of sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cinnamon stick
strip of lime rind
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Caramelize the mold-
Put about 1 cup of sugar in saucepan. Turn the pan gently until the sugar turns amber colored.
Pour caramel into the mold spreading it evenly over the sides and bottom by tipping the mold.
Beat eggs and egg yolks
Add milk and 3/4 cup of sugar
Add salt, vanilla, cinnamon and lime rind
Pour into mold, cover with foil paper and place mold in a larger pan and fill larger pan with enough hot water to cover half way up the mold
Bake 1 1/4 hours
Remove mold from hot water and cool
Refrigerate
When ready to serve turn the flan over onto a plate, slice it, and spoon the caramel over the flan.
Buen Provecho!
(Enjoy your meal!)
Chef Rolando just opened his own Cuban Bistro, Casa Don Rolando, in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles.
