The world's largest Ferris wheel, the Singapore Flyer, opens its capsules to the general public, offering a bird's eye view of the city-state as well as parts of neighbouring Malaysia and Indonesia.

Standing at 165 metres (541 feet) high, the Singapore Flyer, is 30 metres (98 feet) taller than the iconic London Eye.

The Ferris will not remain the tallest Ferris wheel for long however - the Great Wheel of China which is due to be completed in 2009 is planned to reach 208 metres (682 feet) when it is unveiled in Beijing.
